On Thursday 14 March, 75 higher education students gathered in Roeselare (Belgium) during the Vlajo Innovation Camp. The main aim was to find creative solutions to real company challenges in the food industry. Milcobel is one of the supporters of this initiative. “We want to commit strongly to attracting young talent and introduce them to Milcobel as a company,” says Ingeborg Van Wonterghem (Back Office Manager Coop Affairs).
“The Vlajo camp provides a perfect opportunity for this.”
The students were assigned the task to rethink how Milcobel should position itself as a company in three important social issues: environment, health and animal welfare. “No easy task,” says Ingeborg. “Together with my colleagues Gil Rogiers (Group R&D Manager) and Ruben Puype (Environmental Manager) we’ve tried to support all teams as much as possible with feedback and statistics.”
The exercise led to a number of useful results, Van Wonterghem concludes. “The students will soon be provided with extensive feedback, and they will be invited to a final discussion with our CEO Peter Koopmans to test their ideas.”
